Bermuda is fast becoming one of the globe’s sailing capitals. A yacht charter onboard the luxury sailing catamaran 22.86m (75') MATAU is a fabulous way to explore and experience this beautiful and charming part of the world.
Since the America’s Cup was raced here in 2017 Bermuda has flourished and is now rated as a premiere yachting destination. It is a very beautiful place very much influenced by its long colonial past. Pastel coloured mansions and whitewashed cottages shine amongst swaying palms, fragrant frangipani and colourful bougainvillea, while the warm crystal-clear turquoise seas are fringed with soft white and pink sand beaches, and the sky is wall-to-wall blue.
Located North East of the Bahamas in the Sargasso Sea this tropical haven is a hook shaped group of atolls joined by bridges and embankments creating a 22-mile-long island. In total Bermuda consists of only 21 square miles making it one of the tiniest territories in the world. While not part of the Caribbean Bermuda shares similar year-long warm even temperatures reaching mid-thirties (86°F) in the summer and dropping to mid-twenties (68°F) in the winter.
The island was originally uninhabited with the first British being shipwrecked there in 1609. Bermuda became a British colony in 1684 and this British involvement can be seen by the many naval forts and gun emplacements dotted all around the island. It is however much more diverse than that with African, Portuguese, West Indian and North American influences creating a rare cultural mix of laid-back and friendly locals.
These scattered islands provide some spectacular secluded beaches that are postcard perfect, and perfect for those who prefer privacy to people.
With dive sites that take in colourful coral reefs and a fascinating choice of wrecks there is something for all abilities here. Whether you are a snorkeller or a scuba diver the underwater world here has fantastic fauna and there’s every chance you will get close and personal with manta rays, sea turtles or dolphins.
With friendly tax and banking laws Bermuda is also home to some very wealthy people and with that comes an array of gorgeous shops and boutiques, five-star dining restaurants and bars, and luxury spas and resorts. Bermuda is also blessed with a choice of fine museums and extraordinary art galleries.
Built by Privilege MATAU 75ft (22.86m) offers supreme comfort, space and style. She is the ideal luxury charter yacht to have an epic adventure or to unwind and relax surrounded by the azure seas of Bermuda where she will be located from April through to June 2021.
With her massive foredeck with dual trampolines for enjoying being close to the water, generous aft deck set up for dining, and a versatile flybridge that is a great party area or leisure area to simply sunbathe and enjoy the serenity, MATAU offers a space for everybody onboard.
Flowing in from the aft deck, the saloon is warm and inviting, featuring gloss timbers, large windows and contemporary furnishings. There’s a lounge room and separate dining space, with a bar, plus a TV and entertainment system with 600 DVDs.
MATAU has accommodation for eight charter guests, comprising one king and three queen cabins, each with private ensuite. The master stateroom has a massive bathroom, including an indulgent full-size jacuzzi tub. Each cabin has a TV and iPod docking station, as well as large closets, windows and hatches for light and sea breezes. The décor is fresh and chic and guests will appreciate the laidback ‘beach house’ style aboard MATAU.
Befitting a charter yacht in tropical waters, MATAU comes complete with a large Highfield Tender for island hopping and trips to shore, as well as an amazing array of watertoys including wakeboards for kids and adults, waterskis, snorkelling gear, fishing equipment, SUPS, a 2-person kayak and tow tubes.
