One of the most well-known Italian luxury brands – alongside Ferrari and fashion icon Versace – Ferretti was founded in 1968 by brothers Alessandro and Norberto Ferretti, both with an abiding passion for the sea. Popular luxury motor yachts they are available for charter globally for your next vacation.
At first, they sold other manufacturers' boats, before growing their interests into a modest shipyard and launching their own brand with their first model, a 10m motorsailer in 1971. Craving more space and speed, the brothers shifted their focus to building motor yachts. The first Ferretti motor-yacht debuted in 1982, cementing the company's transition into a full-time producer of sport fishing yachts.
In the 1990s, Ferretti invested heavily in new materials and technologies, showing their prowess in competing in Offshore racing. The team won several World Offshore Championships, and Ferretti builders were quick to apply the technological advancements of their winning vessels to the production lines of their motor yachts.
1996 saw the foundation of Ferretti Custom Line, moving Ferretti into the production of fiberglass flybridge yachts 28 to 40 metres in length. That decade the Ferretti Group emerged as one of the top players in both the international market and the sport fisherman craft segment.
Ferretti expanded through making numerous acquisitions, including of Cantieri Navali dell'Adriatico, or CAN, in 1998, CRN in 1999, Riva in 2000, Cantiere Navale Mario Morini in 2002, Itama in 2004 and Allied Marine in 2008.
The Ferretti Yachts division was officially set up in 2002, as a designer, producer, and marketer of 47 to 88 foot fiberglass flybridge yachts.
Ferretti was acquired by the Chinese multinational heavy machinery and automotive manufacturing company Weichai Group in 2012, boosting its capital whilst retaining its fundamental "Made in Italy" credentials, ethos and pride in all facets of workmanship.
Today, the Ferretti Group maintains an active presence at the international level in Europe, USA and America, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
